I have experience and training in providing therapy for individuals of all ages who have symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma responses and grief. I work to guide adults, parents, individuals, children or families in discovering new paths towards harmony and understanding. With years of experience, I'm dedicated to providing practical, actionable solutions for you or your family's unique challenges. My role isn't just to listen; it's to work collaboratively to find answers and strategies that lead to positive change.

I work with all ages but have extensive training in children, family and parenting matters. Using the power of play, I often guide families through the change process. As a Registered Play therapist I use a variety of play modalities, themes and interventions to help clients gain a better understanding of themselves and family dynamics. Additionally, I am certified as an Autplay therapist and can offer services to those on any level of the Autism spectrum or supportive care to family/loved ones living with those on the spectrum. Autplay therapy is a neurodiversity affirming framework for implementing play therapy to address the mental needs of neurodivergent children and their families.

I have my Masters degree in Professional Counseling and a post masters certificate in Family and Marriage counseling and in Childhood and Adolescent Disorders. I also have a strong background in early childhood education as a one to one aid in classroom settings, working in traditional and montessori schools.

In my free time I love spending time outdoors, playing disc golf, camping, playing my ukulele in my backyard, or walking my two dogs.

I feel so honored to do the work that I do and be the person you share your story with. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help and begin the therapy process, so I do my best in making therapy accessible and disarming. In and out of the therapy room, I strive to be authentic, warm, and empowering. I place a strong emphasis on building a genuine connection with my clients and creating a space that is free of judgement. I believe that humor and lightheartedness have a vital place in therapy. I take a Person-Centered and Humanistic approach in therapy. I am extensively trained Dialectical Behavior Therapy and while I do not offer the complete DBT model, I incorporate DBT skills into sessions. I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based approaches.

I earned a Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Nevada, Reno. I have worked with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families for nearly 10 years in a plethora of settings. I have experience in working within the foster care system, the K-12 school system, medical/behavioral integrative care, residential facilities, intensive outpatient programs, and traditional outpatient settings. Although I am a born and raised Renoite, I keep a strong tie to my Latinx heritage. I am a native Spanish-speaker and I am passionate about serving the Spanish-speaking and Latinx community. That being said, I enjoy working with all diverse populations that face unique challenges in life.

I work best with clients who are facing depression, anxiety, esteem issues, intergenerational cultural conflict, mood dysregulation, and life transitions. I help clients develop effective communication, set boundaries, devise a toolkit of coping skills, and build a life worth living.

When I am not in the therapist chair I enjoy reading memoirs, attending concerts, yoga, mindful walks, and occasionally watching terrible reality TV.

At my core, I am a person-centered therapist, meaning my relationship with clients is built upon empathy, respect, and non-judgment. I believe the therapeutic relationship and overall process of therapy fosters healing and growth. In this safe and supportive environment, I will build on your strengths to assist you in gaining awareness and understanding, clarifying values, and exploring your preferred ways of being. I also acknowledge our past can impact how we view ourselves and the world; I aim to create a safe space to process and make meaning of past experiences. I enjoy integrating elements of breathwork, mindfulness, movement, and body-awareness into session, if these modalities are comfortable and helpful for the client.

I view clients as experts of their own lives and partners in the therapeutic process, which can include both joyful and challenging moments. I will be there to celebrate your successes, encourage you when you need support, and kindly offer feedback based on your goals of therapy. Just like life, I try not to take therapy too seriously. After all, we’re all learning and growing... hopefully we can find some fun in the process! I look forward to walking with you along your journey so you can show up as your best self and live a balanced, intentional, and meaningful life.

I was born and raised here in the Biggest Little City and love exploring all that our community and area have to offer. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of San Diego and completed my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy Counseling at the University of Nevada. I am also a registered yoga teacher and see my yoga mat as a place of introspection and growth. During my free time, you will find me traveling, playing outdoors, practicing yoga, or attempting to tire out my forever puppies, Luna and Bogey.

In my counseling approach, the most important aspect is the trusting and safe relationship between the therapist and client. I aim to journey with clients within the framework of person-centered, attachment, and existential theories while also addressing past experiences that frame how individuals exist in the present.

As a systemic therapist, I hold a holistic view of clients’ experiences and acknowledge how presenting concerns may be affected by other parts of the clients’ system, such as family, work and social environments. I often work with clients who struggle with anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, and life transitions. My goal is to have clients leave therapy feeling authentic, self-assured, and able to create meaning from their experiences.

I have a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Sociology, and Spanish from the University of Nevada, Reno. During my education I have worked with a range of individuals and families through in-home psychosocial rehabilitation services. As a clinical intern, I conducted out-patient individual, family, and couples counseling. I have worked with families with children as young as 5 years old through a Child Parent Psychotherapy approach and thoroughly enjoy working with teens. I strive to meet clients where they are at in whatever they are facing and walk alongside them.

I am originally from San Diego, California and have lived in the Reno for the past 7 years. I have an equal love for both the mountains and the ocean. Some of my hobbies include taking care of my houseplants, practicing yoga, playing video games, and enjoying a good cup of coffee with my loved ones and cat!

I believe that therapy offers a way for us to examine our narratives and their meanings. I work with people who are transitioning in all realms. People experiencing racism, grief/loss, those living with depression and anxiety, PTSD, and chronic burnout. I see individuals and couples across generations and milestones with various identifiers: Third Culture, BIPOC, LGBTQ, and non-binary.

As a therapist, I am interested in your subjective experience and the context, framework, and systemic dynamics that shape it. I see you as a whole person and aim to avoid reductionist and pathological interpretations. I work experientially and within the transference. The relational dynamics we enact in therapy can be a variation of existing or prior relational dynamics.

I am direct and compassionate in my communication style. I strive to cultivate a safe, inclusive, non-judgmental space. I invite clients to know their strengths, self-worth, intrinsic values, and capacity for growth. Within the practice there is space for shame, disgust, guilt, blame, anger, cognitive distortions, and negative self-talk, as we move towards ambivalence, self-compassion, authenticity, accountability, and humility.

I have worked in the field of mental health for over twenty years. I have a Master’s in Social Work from New York University. I completed my clinical hours in San Francisco. I have worked in emergency departments, inpatient psychiatry, and outpatient mental health clinics. I am licensed in California and Nevada. My theoretical framework is eclectic & holistic, drawing on evidence-based theories to existential/humanistic theories. I am fluent in Mandarin and conversational Spanish.

I Love Reno! Other places I have lived are San Francisco, Amsterdam, Taipei, Buenos Aires, Manhattan, Los Angeles, and Madrid. Beyond the Collective, I enjoy Friday night dinners with friends and family, boxing, art, cultural happenings, hiking, hot springs, bike rides, literature, podcasts, and jaunts with my three not-chill children.

I am passionate about designing evidence-based treatment plans based on Client strengths and interests with a little humor! I enjoy facilitating sessions in an upbeat and easy-going manner that place Client’s in the role of expert with guidance, emotional warmth, validation and a non-judgmental stance. I welcome opportunities to work alongside you to navigate a variety of life challenges. I often meet with young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, boundary issues, sports performance challenges and general stress/overwhelm.

I commonly utilize the following modalities: Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (TLC), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My continuing education and post graduate training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and CBT for Anxiety Disorders from The Beck Institute, Trauma Informed Care as well as Trauma-Focused CBT.

I earned my Masters Degree from The University of Kansas and then obtained my clinical license. Shortly after, I relocated to Reno/Tahoe as a means to have better access to outdoor culture as I enjoy camping, surfing, hiking, longboarding and snowboarding. I strive to have a healthy work/life balance and enjoy exploring the outdoors with my dogs. One of my dogs, Tioga, is a K9 therapist-in-training and may be found sitting in our sessions to provide comfort and support. When I’m not outside, I enjoy creating art and practicing aerial silks. I have a history in competitive sports as a retired level 9 club team Junior Olympic Gymnast, Division 1 College Athlete (KU) and Women’s Gymnastics Team Coach. This experience provides me a first-hand perspective of the challenges involved with competitive sports, perfectionism and anxiety as an adolescent and young adult.

I utilize an integrated, holistic approach and believe that in doing so, we are able to incorporate the whole person, rather than treating a symptom. I work with Clients who are navigating a variety of challenges in life. I see individuals who are experiencing feelings of depression, anxiety, boundary difficulties, spiritual issues, and grief/loss. Many of my Clients are trying to cope with the effects of trauma in their life, in addition to feelings of insecurity, perfectionism, self-hatred, or shame. I employ experiential therapeutic tools and come alongside my Clients to help them work towards change.

It takes great courage to seek counseling; it’s an honor to walk with people during this part of their story. I help people develop insight into themselves, learn new tools for coping, find their voice, and seek healing from their past or present experiences.

I strive to provide a compassionate and hope-filled experience for each of my clients. I am committed to helping individuals restore and live fully into who they are created to be; I have training in Art Therapy, Gender Affirmative Care, Religious and Spiritual trauma, Trauma treatment as well as intensive training in CBT for Anxiety Disorders by The Beck Institute.

I moved to Reno when I was seven years old and have lived here most of my life, except for the 6 years I lived in Portland, OR, where I earned my Master’s degree. When I am not providing therapy, you can find me enjoying Northern Nevada with my husband and two children. I have a small homestead and enjoy my chickens and fresh produce from our garden. My dog Dumpy likes to join in my therapy sessions sometimes; I love podcasts, coffee, and nerdy stuff.

I love people and feel there is a lot that can be gained through connecting with each other. As a Mental Health Clinician, I believe that the foundation of a meaningful life is identifying and living according to your personal values. My approach to therapy involves taking those strengths and personal values to inform our evidenced based treatment plan to guide our journey and create the change you are looking for. I will also coordinate care with other treatment providers if we collectively decide it would benefit you.

In my work with individuals, couples, and families my goal as a Clinician is to create an environment that is compassionate, supportive, and welcoming to diversity. My training includes completing my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling as well as earning my graduate certificate in the Specialty Program in Alcohol and Drug Abuse at Western Michigan University. I have focused my continuing education on empirically-supported treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety Disorders with The Beck Institute; Family Systems Theory; Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy; trauma-informed care; and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I have used my training to address a number of issues such as anxiety, depression and trauma including sexual assault and abuse. I have experience working in several levels of care in a variety of settings including a Partial Hospitalization Program for adolescents (PHP), Homebased Family Therapy, and a Reparation Safety (RSafe) Program for survivors of sexual assault, as well as perpetrators of sex-related crimes.

Making the choice to attend therapy can be scary; once you commit there will be a lot of work to be done, but you will not be alone. As your Clinician, I will be alongside you to support you, challenge you, and encourage you. I will help you gain insight into yourself while fostering a transparent honest relationship. This will be time dedicated to addressing your needs in a safe space.

When I am not in the collective, I like to spend my time paddle boarding on one of the many lakes Northern Nevada has to offer, cooking, and spending time with my family and friends. I am currently trying to be an avid runner but am succeeding at walking long distances; either way if I am outside, I am happy.

Counseling is about creating a supportive and safe environment where you can share openly. My style with Clients is always collaborative, interactive and motivating. I believe people have the best understanding of what works for them.  I encourage Clients to be true to themselves while considering experiences, ideas, and beliefs that may be causing unnecessary dysfunction in their daily lives. Together, we can gain perspective in these areas of disruption allowing for positive change. The goal of our work is to not only ease current suffering, but to learn from it in a way that encourages emotional growth.

My therapeutic approach is most often a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy, and insight-oriented psychotherapy. My areas of specialty include individual therapy, couples/relational therapy, anger management, parenting issues, depression and anxiety, boundaries and mindfulness. I counsel those working in fields that cause vicarious trauma and burnout. I work with business owners to manage their stress and to support them in running businesses reflecting their core values. I am also able to provide counseling services in Spanish.

I am a Nevada native, who hates cold weather but loves the snow. I enjoy spending time with my children, listening to music, playing pool/billiards, and watching comedy.
